Explanation of International Registered Companies
Many companies in the wood packaging industry use treated wood from abroad. Only wood sourced from registered companies in countries recognized by the Netherlands Food and Consumer Product Safety Authority (NVWA) may be used in the production of wood packaging without treatment and subsequently sold as packaging that meets the requirements of ISPM 15.
The international companies registered in the relevant country can be found in the country overview (alphabetically). Because SMHV relies on data from the national and international NVWAs, the lists below may be incomplete. If you encounter suppliers who are not yet included on any of the lists below, please contact the SMHV secretariat: info@smhv.nl
For information about packaging wood, please visit the NVWA website: nvwa.nl/woodpakking
For further questions about international requirements, please contact the NVWA in Wageningen: email: info@smhv.nl / website: NVWA / telephone: 0900-03 88 (this information number costs €0.20 per call, plus your usual call charges).
Every shipment of treated wood originating from a registered company must include:
- A declaration from the wood supplier stating that the shipment in question has actually been treated in accordance with ISPM 15. As of January 1, 2006, foreign sawmills must indicate on their invoices that the wood "accords to ISPM 15."
- The Dutch registered company must maintain this administrative record.
These are essential points that the Certification Body checks (if applicable, of course).
This is an overview of the country codes.
An overview of the registered international countries can be found under ISPM 15 International Country Overview.
