ISPM 15
The international standard for phytosanitary measures for wooden packaging (ISPM 15) was drawn up by the International Plant Protection Convention (IPPC) and laid down under the title ‘Guidelines for regulating wood packaging material in international trade’.
The measures prevent the spread of live pests through the transport of wooden packaging. Wood for wooden packaging and dunnage must be treated and marked for international transport. ISPM 15 specifies, among other things, which products must be treated, the methods permitted for this purpose, and how the markings must be applied to these products.
More and more countries are making compliance with ISPM 15 mandatory for imports of wooden packaging. ISPM 15 guarantees buyers and users of wooden packaging trouble-free worldwide transport. You can find more information about this in the SMHV brochure.
